Description
Perfect for when the pavement comes to an end, this front wheel gives you greater stability and control on mixed terrains. It features an incredibly stiff carbon clincher rim construction, which means that you'll benefit from its fantastic strength without worrying about adding any unnecessary weight to your road or gravel bike. 3T has also equipped this model with a wider rim profile that's perfect for use with wider tyres. As a result, you'll be able to enjoy its improved cornering and grip, while its tubeless tyre compatibility allows you to stay comfortable and in control. We’ve never gone on an all-road/gravel ride where in the end people said: “That was fun, but it would have been better with smaller tyres”. That simply doesn’t happen, when the going gets tough, wider is better. Which is why 3T's Exploro frame fits up to 2.1” tyres and why we are big supporters of 650b wheels, since they allow you to mount wider tyres without the overall diameter of the wheel becoming unwieldy. The Discus Plus is the world’s first wheel range specifically designed for wider tyres on all-road/gravel bikes, whether you use a RoadPlus (road profile, 44-50mm wide) or GravelPlus (small mountain bike tire, 50-54mm (2.1”) wide). The advantages are obvious: more grip, more comfort, almost un-flattable (is that a word?) so you are practically unstoppable. Technologies: WIDE PROFILE: Wide tyres need a wide rim to prevent excessive lateral tyre roll and improve cornering. The Discus Plus PRO TEAM wheels exploit the lightweight carbon properties with a 28mm inner width. OFFSET SPOKES: Discus Plus wheels use offset spokes to compensate for the space required for the brake rotor (and in the case of the rear wheel, the cassette). This allows the spoke angle and thus the spoke tension to be more equal left and right. EXPOSED NIPPLES: The Discus Plus wheels are designed to be bombproof. In case you encounter a tree crossing the trail or any other unlikely event requires a quick fix on the go, the Discus Plus uses exposed nipples for easy access. STRAIGHT PULL DESIGN: Straight pull spokes are stronger and lighter. They are more expensive due to the extra effort in machining the hubs, but it’s well worth the investment to ensure that spoke breakage is all but eliminated. MULTI-AXLE: Our hubs are compatible with 5mm quick releases, 12mm thru axles and even with a 15mm front thru axle. Just swap out the end caps depending on the frame design you use the wheels in.
