These 6x2 smooth wooden shelves are in our Outlet section, which is shelves from cancelled orders, where a customer has placed an order and then changed their mind about their finish colour, or even cancelled their order after we've already made them in the workshop. This shelf is in perfect condition, it is not a “second” or damaged. The only reason we’re selling them at a discount is that it is currently taking up space in our storage area of the workshop – storage that we need for other orders that we are busy making. Read more about our FSC® certification and what it means, here. To make these smooth floating shelves we select top-quality, unsorted, kiln-dried pine. Each shelf is cut to size and finished in our contemporary smooth style. Whilst this leaves flatter and smoother surface, we still like to leave in plenty of natural timber characteristics and features. Mother Nature's own stamp of approval. Despite the machining process to make the timber smooth and flat, being a natural product, solid wood can contain a variety of different features and characteristics. In the Smooth range, these features are less prominent than in our Rustic range but can still include waney edges, knots, splits, cracks and shakes, and some sanding marks. These are the qualities that set our shelving apart from the rest. And due to the nature of solid wood, every shelf will be different. Truly unique. One of a kind. As we only use natural, solid timber, measurements can change slightly from one piece to another. 5 Fine Wax Finish Colours To finish these chunky wood shelves we use your choice of one of our supreme wax polishes. The finish is professionally applied with the highest attention to detail. And as the wax soaks into the different grains and features it enhances their look and brings them to life. This makes it less reliable than seeing the real finished timber before your own eyes. Because you want the perfect colour for your home these finishes are available to purchase as small samples.
