Description
If your cat suffers from lower urinary tract disease you can help by feeding it a diet which provides optimal nutritional support for its urinary system. Urinary tract disease can lead to urinary stones (including struvite and calcium oxalate). Royal Canin Urinary S/O products were developed as an adjunctive treatment for cystitis and urinary stones. Indications: Dissolution of struvite uroliths Prophylactic treatment/prevention of calcium oxalate stones Prophylactic treatment/ prevention of struvite stones Contraindications: Chronic renal failure, metabolic acidosis Heart failure Hypertension Pregnancy, lactation, kittens Parallel use of urine acidifying medication Key benefits: Struvite dissolution: Urinary S/O helps to dissolve struvite stones. Moderate calorie content: The reduced calorie content makes it easier to limit weight gain in cats with a tendency to obesity (neutered cats, house cats). Urine dilution: Diluting the urine decreases the urinary concentration of struvite and calcium oxalate. Protecting bladder mucosa: Glycosaminoglycan (GAG) is a natural part of the bladder mucosa and protects against bacteria and toxins. Changing your pet's diet and length of treatment: Your pet will need to stay on this diet for 5 to 12 weeks, or until the stones are dissolved. It is advisable to feed this diet for a further 6 months to prevent a recurrence. Once your pet is better (urine test) it can be fed with Royal Canin Veterinary Diet – Obesity Management or Satiety Support, if it is overweight. Alternatively, if your cat has been neutered and is already maintaining its ideal weight, it can be fed with a product from the Royal Canin – Neutered range. Further information: Please ensure that during its illness your pet is fed only with Royal Canin Veterinary Diet - Urinary S/O Moderate Calorie UMC 34, otherwise the effectiveness of this product may be reduced. Urinary S/O wet cat food is recommended if your pet suffers with recurring idiopathic cystitis. Therapeutic veterinary diets are carefully formulated and recommended to be used in conjunction with veterinary advice and support. Royal Canin strongly recommend you seek advice from your Vet prior to and during feeding of any of these products to your pet.
