Description
Abies Nordmanniana commonly known as the Normann Fir. This variety is traditionally used as a Christmas tree, with particularly long lasting needles, but makes a large conical specimen with a presence in the landscape with its dark, aromatic, evergreen needles on downward sweeping branches, along with cones making an attractive feature. The conifers screening makes it a resilient tree that will become a very large specimen with maturity, so be sure to give it plenty of space. Ultimate Height: Up to 30m (98”). Spread: 8m (26”). Grow Abies in reliably moist, fertile, neutral to slightly acid, well drained soil. Choose a position in full sun. A sheltered site with even light is preferable to ensure even growth and retain its elegant shape. Prior to planting, incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost into the soil to improve its structure and fertility. In the first few years after planting, water Fir trees regularly, particularly during dry periods until they are fully established. Abies will naturally form an elegant conical shaped tree. No pruning is required. Position: Full Sun Height Up To: 3000cm (1181”). Spread Up To: 800cm (314”).
