Description
Acer Palmatum Osakazuki is small, slow growing deciduous trees that are known for their iconic, elegant looks. This particular variety is green during the spring and summer, but it really becomes its own in autumn with a transformation of the highest sorts. The stunning lobed foliage turning a vibrant shade of red is sure to be noticed and can become a key focal point in any garden. This variety is perfect for growing as stand-alone specimen plants, however they can also be used to form Japanese themed borders or for planting under larger trees where sunlight may not always be able to reach. These will continue to grow for many years adding much needed variety and colour to gardens. Grow in any moist, fertile, well drained soil in sun or dappled shade, with shelter from strong winds which can scorch the finely cut leaves. Alternatively plant in large containers or pots using a soil based compost such as John Innes No.3. Water regularly throughout the growing season until well established. Protect plants from strong winds. Acers require little pruning other than to maintain their shape. Lightly trim stems if necessary from late autumn to midwinter.
