Description
Achillea millefolium Paprika produces numerous heads of tiny delicate Scarlet-red flowers with yellow centres, on an upright, herbaceous shrub, that has dark green leaves. This is very attractive to all pollinating insects, such as bees and butterflies, and is a stunning sight in the borders or edges of your cottage, coastal or wildlife garden. This plant has been awarded the RHS Award: Plants for pollinators. For the culinary minded, the Yarrow plant has lots of uses! The leaves of this Yarrow plant can be used cooked or raw. They have a bitter taste, but are good when picked young and mixed into salads. Also it can be used as a preservative or flavouring for beer. And the flowers can be made into an aromatic tea. Yarrow grows best in full sunshine, in moist, well-drained soil. It is known to tolerate a wide range of soil conditions, except for heavy wet winter clay. To give it the best start, mix in coarse grit or sharp sand into your soil, prior to planting.
