This perfectly balanced collection of blue and white Agapanthus varieties, comprising ‘Queen of the Ocean’ and ‘Polar Ice’, is ideal for bringing a contrasting and structural display to sunny borders or patio pots. Easy to grow and very reliable, these drought-tolerant plants love to bask in the sun, producing large rounded flower heads on tall, upright stems throughout summer. These impressive blooms not only look great in the garden, but they’re fantastic for us use cut flowers. Hardy in most parts of the UK or within sheltered planting schemes, you can enjoy these perennial beauties year after year. Your bare roots should be planted at the earliest opportunity following delivery. Once planted, they will remain in their dormant state until the spring. Above ground you won't see much happening over the winter, but the roots will be establishing ready for your agapanthus plants to grow away quickly once the warmer weather arrives. Grow Agapanthus plants in rich fertile, well drained soil, in a sunny position. When growing Agapanthus in patio containers use a soil based compost, such as John Innes No.3. Feed and water African Lilies regularly throughout the growing season. Leave faded Agapanthus flower stems intact to enjoy their architectural seed heads during autumn. When the first frost blacken the seed heads, cut the stems back to ground level. Protect plants outdoors from severe winter weather by providing a dry mulch of bark chips or straw in late autumn. Container grown plants can be moved to a frost free position over winter. Divide agapanthus clumps in spring when they become over crowded.
