Description
This collection of two popular and long-lasting African Lily varieties, including reblooming Agapanthus ‘Poppin Purple’ and bicolour Agapanthus ‘Fireworks’. Both varieties have showy domed flower clusters on upright stems. When combined they provide a long season of colour, contrasting beautifully with each other to create an effortlessly showstopping display each year. These sun-loving hardy perennials enjoy a spot which received plenty of sunshine and don’t mind growing in a narrow space - ideal for a border running along a south-facing wall or for patio containers. Grow Agapanthus plants in rich fertile, well drained soil, in a sunny position. When growing Agapanthus in patio containers use a soil based compost, such as John Innes No.3 . Feed and water African Lilies regularly throughout the growing season. Leave faded Agapanthus flower stems intact to enjoy their architectural seed heads during autumn. When the first frost blacken the seed heads, cut the stems back to ground level. Protect plants outdoors from severe winter weather by providing a dry mulch of bark chips or straw in late autumn. Container grown plants can be moved to a frost free position over winter. Divide agapanthus clumps in spring when they become over crowded.
