These Peruvian Lilies are renowned for the reliable hardiness and tall stems. When all risk of frost has passed, plant Peruvian Lilies in a sunny or semi shaded position in fertile, moist, well-drained soil. Alternatively, plant Alstroemeria in patio containers in soil based compost such as John Innes No.3. Water the Peruvian Lilies throughout the flowering period and also provide plant food. To encourage further growth, pluck the Alstroemerias flowers instead of cutting as by plucking can stimulate the rhizome which will create more flowers. We recommend cutting back your Alstroemerias in the autumn and apply dry mulch or straw to protect it from cold weather conditions. Peruvian Lilies prefer not to be disturbed, however they can be divided in the autumn or spring if clumps become overcrowded.
