Obsidian is natural glass that originates from a volcano. It is also said to keep negative energies away. This stone came from the stock of gems of a jeweler that has since passed, who spent years collecting these rare stones before they landed at Bijules Incubator. It is an honor and a wonderful experience to give life to an old gem. Part of the new collection VITREOUS THREASURI. Material: Obsidian, Sterling (.925) and Argentium (.935) silver with Black Pearl (coated) Stud. Rhodium plated. Care: Please keep your silver jewelry separate and in original packaging to avoid tarnishing. If tarnishing does occur, please use the polishing cloth included in your packaging to clean silver jewelry. Never use harsh chemicals to clean jewelry with gemstones like this piece. Sustainability: The designer manufactures her work from her own studio. She uses one-of-a-kind gemstones from family owned gem dealers, artisanal miners and independent lapidaries and gem carvers, in this way supporting the mine-to-market model and more transparency in the jewelry industry. She recycles most of her silver to create her work. Handcrafted by the designer herself in her studio in NYC and NYC's Diamond District.
