Description
IWC Watch Portugieser Perpetual Calendar 42 IW503401. Widely considered their most impressive and coveted complication, IWC’s perpetual calendar is brought centre stage once again in this stunning Portugieser Perpetual Calendar 42 watch. First developed by IWC’s former head watchmaker Kurt Klaus during the 1980’s, the IWC Perpetual Calendar is designed to be incredibly user friendly, fully controlled using the single crown and automatically recognises different month lengths including leap years with no correction until the year 2100. Powered by the IWC-manufactured automatic 52615 calibre, the IWC Portugieser Perpetual Calendar 42 is also home to displays for the date, day, month, hours, minutes, seconds and moon phase for the northern and southern hemispheres. With the help of ceramic components, the movement’s Pellaton winding system builds up a power reserve of 7 days while a total of 54 jewels help reduce friction and assist in a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour. You can witness the spectacular engineering of the 52615 calibre through the sapphire crystal case back alongside the rose gold sand-blasted finished oscillating rotor. While the inside of the IWC Portugieser Perpetual Calendar 42 watch impresses, the exterior exceeds all expectations of luxury watch design. It’s 42 millimetre profile is engineered entirely out of 18-carat white gold with a matching smooth, unadorned bezel, arched sapphire crystal glass treated with anti-reflective coating on both sides and a timeless black alligator leather strap. The men’s IWC Portugieser is completed by a blue dial adorned with matching rhodium plated hands and Arabic numerals and a water resistant rating of 30 metres.
