Description
This stunning Astrantia with it’s beautiful deep ruby-red verging on burgundy blooms is most commonly seen among cottage garden borders. These thrive in moist soil and are perfect at a woodland edge or beside a pond or stream. These can also be used for cutting or dried flower arrangement. Plant bareroots at the earliest opportunity following delivery in fertile, moist, well drained soil, and situated in full sun or semi shade. Although varieties of Astrantia major are more tolerant of drier conditions than any of their cousins, this hardy perennial will prefer a soil that is in rich in organic matter. Add plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost to the soil prior to planting. Feed and water plants regularly until well established.
