Ralph Lauren Collection sources the cashmere for its cable-knit sweaters from goats raised in the Mongolian mountains, where the high altitude and cold climate produce an incredibly soft underfleece. The animals are combed—and not sheared—to procure only the whitest long-staple fibers, which are spun in a century-old northern Italian mill and washed using pure water from the Alps.
