Description
Calabrese Marathon F1 is a popular variety of broccoli that is easy to grow from seed. This vegetable is a great source of vitamins and minerals, making it a healthy addition to any diet. The best time to sow Calabrese Marathon F1 seeds is in early spring, around March or April, when the soil has warmed up and the risk of frost has passed. To sow the seeds, prepare a seedbed by raking the soil to a fine tilth and then make shallow drills about 1 cm deep. Sow the seeds thinly along the drills and cover with a thin layer of soil. Water gently and keep the soil moist until the seeds germinate, which should take around 7-14 days.Once the seedlings have grown to around 10 cm tall, they can be transplanted to their final growing position. Choose a sunny spot with well-drained soil and space the plants around 45 cm apart. Keep the soil moist and weed-free, and feed the plants with a balanced fertiliser every few weeks.Calabrese Marathon F1 is a fast-growing variety that can be harvested in around 60-70 days from sowing. The heads should be cut when they are still tight and compact, before the flowers start to open. This will ensure that the broccoli is at its most tender and tasty.
