Hyacinthus was a lover of Apollo, the God of Knowledge, Music, and Medicine. As a beautiful Prince of Sparta he attracted the God's eye, and together they would play the lyre, and hunt with bow and arrow. Apollo could not revive him, when he died and he cried over the drops of Hyachinthus' blood which spilled on the ground. There grew the blue flowers we now call by that name. It is said that the flowers that appeared had the words "Al Al" written on their petals, which signified Apollo's sorrow.
