Description
This bold pendant has an adjustable 16" chain and can also be worn as a choker. It's inspired by the cosmetic pestle grinders Roman women wore around their necks. The crescent shape was believed to give them power as symbols of fertility. Phallic forms are found on a wide range of Roman amulets. They, like this pestle pendant, are symbols intended to bring good luck and ward off evil spirits. The pendant has the trademark texture of the Serpentine collection running snake like round the middle of the pestle. Serpentine; Resembling a serpent in form or movement. Winding sinuously. Subtly wily or tempting. This fragile texture is inspired by ancient Roman and Etruscan craftsmanship, where twisted silver and gold wire were used to create intricate forms for jewellery. Made from recycled 18k gold vermeil over recycled solid sterling silver. Gold vermeil is made through the gold plating technique but requires a thicker layer of gold. All Cupio B gold jewellery has 2. 5 microns of 18K gold over solid sterling silver and is therefore classed as vermeil. This means it is more durable. Our sterling silver and vermeil are strong and durable metals that can be worn daily with no need to keep removing your items. They can both naturally scratch over time but won't appear dull. If your items are kept in your jewellery boxes for a longer period of time it's natural for tarnish to appear. This can easily be removed with a soft polishing cloth or silver dip. These metals are hypoallergenic and don't contain nickel.
