CustomCask Adirondack Style Garden Chair | With Optional Footstool
Description
A garden or patio chair handmade from oak staves from old Scotch whisky casks. It is an Adirondack chair design, with the traditional slatted seat, high splayed back, reclined/relaxed seating position, & broad arms. The natural shape of the barrel staves provide the ideal curved shapes for the seat pad, the splayed back & the arms. An optional footstool is available if desired (please select when ordering). IMPORTANT These chairs are substantial pieces of furniture & weight approx 20kg each. Delivery within approximately 80 miles of Glasgow is included in the stated price (the actual radius covered is at my discretion & will increase for order quantities of 3 items or more). Delivery further afield within the UK will incur an additional delivery charge, to be selected via the Up to 250miles or Up to 450miles delivery upgrade option when placing your order. If you are further than approx 450 miles from Glasgow, please contact me to discuss delivery options. Note that the charge is per delivery trip NOT per item ordered ie if you order a pair of chairs, or a chair & table, there is only one delivery charge. Please feel free to contact me in advance of placing an order to clarify/agree any delivery costs, as there may also be options to combine your delivery with another customer to save you both some money. DETAILED DESCRIPTION The seat height at the front (behind the knees) is ~30cm, dipping to ~20cm at the rear of the seat. Seat depth is ~45cm The back uses full length staves at ~90cm each. The staves are planed to remove the accumulated grime from decades of storing whisky in bonded warehouses around Scotland, then sanded to a smooth finish. Whisky barrel staves tend to have black streaks on them from interaction with the steel barrel hoops, & some remnants of these are normally left on each stave to recall the character that comes from the old casks. However, if you would prefer a clean oak finish, please request via a private message when ordering. The inside surface of each stave starts out blackened from the traditional charring process associated with Scotch whisky production. Loose charred wood is removed from all staves in the chair. Where the inner stave surface is the visible surface in the chair, such as those being used for the seat & back, these are further sanded to bring out the colour of the underlying oak. (NB the inner surfaces of staves will always be darker in appearance than the outer surface, & will display a variation in colour that is part of the character of the item). Each chair can be finished EITHER with 3 coats of Ronseal Clear Satin Exterior Varnish, to show off the grain of the oak staves OR stained with 3 coats of one of 6 shades available in the Ronseal Trade Exterior 10 Yr Woodstain range (Natural Oak, Dark Oak, Mahogany, Ebony, Teak & Walnut - all satin finish). Select which option you require when ordering. A more extensive list of shades is available in Ronseal's retail Exterior Woodstain range. If you
