Czapek Quai Des Bergues NO 25 TER
Description
The slightly vaulted dial of the No. 33, with the characteristic subdials at 7 and 4: 30 , is back for a repeat performance as a key element of the brand DNA. "It is covered with a silvered sun-brushed dial," says Xavier de Roquemaurel, the CEO of Czapek & Cie and one of the three "guardians" of the company. "It's a unique shape to reproduce perfectly the enamel natural dome and it is produced by dial expert, Metalem." The dial is swept by blued triangular hands that display the time with great clarity as they pass the elongated numerals lacquered in a cool blue. The cases of the No. 25bis have been carefully designed according to a complex algorithm. "You immediately notice how organically the crown is integrated into the middle case and protected bytwo raised sections," de Roquemaurel points out, “it’s a revolution inside another revolution”. And the steel itself is not any ordinary stainless steel. Rather, it is an especially corrosion-resistant stainlesssteel variant provided by the Swiss family-run steel enterprise Montanstahl. The "XO steel” – its composition is still a secret – is tougher to machine, but the additional features makes it a very practical innovation in watchmaking. The Quai des Bergues No. 25bis is driven by a proprietary, manually-wound movement beating at 21, 600 vph. It was developed exclusively for Czapek & Cie in collaboration with Jean-François Mojon. The Caliber SXH1 has a power reserve of 168 hours thanks to two barrel springs. The transparent case back of anti-reflective sapphire crystal opens onto a beautifully designed movement, with traditional open ratchets, sanded and hand-beveled bridges and blued screws that recall the originalpocket watches made by François Czapek in the mid-nineteenth century.
