Description
Carpinus Betulus, commonly known as the Hornbeam, is a superb long established native hedging tree. Looks and grows very similar to Beech, however the leaves have much deeper veins. A perfect hedging solution where soil conditions are poor or for very exposed areas, looks superb in a country style garden, but looks elegant within an urban or inner city location. Very hardy and semi evergreen, the leaves in spring and summer are a fresh lush green colour turning golden brown in winter. Again similar to the Beech tree, however does drop slightly more leaves than Beech in winter, but faster growing. Ideal hedging tree to create privacy and can also be used as a windbreak or noise barrier.
