DT Swiss Aero 111 ARC 1400 WTS 80mm Wheelset The aerodynamic performance of these wheels has been meticulously refined, with aero rims, spokes, and hubs designed to the smallest detail. However, to elevate the optimisation of the wheel-tyre system (WTS) even further, it became clear that an aerodynamic tyre was required. No existing tyre met the high standards for low aero drag and balanced handling, so Swiss Side and DT Swiss set out to develop their own. Their long-standing partnership led to the search for a tyre expert, and Continental became the ideal partner, contributing advanced rubber technology. This collaboration ensured that the AERO 111 front wheel tyre would perfectly complement the wheel's design, creating a unified system that sets new aerodynamic standards. The tyre features 48 small cavities, evenly distributed across its surface. These are known as vortex generators, designed to control turbulence in the airflow around the front wheel. This innovative feature helps reduce drag across the entire wheel-tyre system, creating a more efficient ride.
