Description
A multi-coloured block print style design, featuring flowers and leaves in all-over form. Traditionally surface printed onto a heavyweight non-woven ground for ease of hanging.
The original wallpaper fragment was in a single tonal colour block print, in a panelled form, edged with vertical stripes. The team at Designers Guild re-worked this as an all-over pattern in multi-colour tones to create a more versatile design.
Removed in 1990 from No.17 Carlisle Street in London's Soho district, built in 1765, the name came from the mansion, built in the mid-1680s, which was occupied by the Countess of Carlisle.
