ENVE Foundation Collection 65 Carbon Tubeless Disc Wheelset Incorporating the core values and technologies of premium carbon component manufacturer ENVE, the Foundation Collection 65 Carbon Tubeless Disc is a top performance aero wheelset that is priced for accessibility to more riders. It may be a step below the SES wheel models in terms of price, thanks to improved manufacturing efficiencies and a few simplifications to design, however, there are no real compromises, this is still an incredibly aerodynamic, fast set of wheels that has the stability for racing on windy days, despite its deep 65mm rim. Technology has been borrowed from ENVE's flagship models that feature the Smart ENVE System (SES) for best-in-class performance. One of the main differences between the ranges is the rim geometry. Unlike SES wheels, the rims match front and rear, rather than being optimised for each position individually, however, the Foundations 65s still boast better stability and drag reduction than competitor's offerings. They're tubeless-compatible and optimised for 25mm wide tyres, but if you wish to run 28mm tyres, there's very little aero loss, and this is made up for by the rolling efficiency gained from the extra width. Wide Hookless Bead technology is essentially a wider surface at the rims leading edge, resulting in better distribution of impact and a lighter, stronger overall build. Patented Molded Spoke and Valve Stem Hole technologies make the rims strong and light and 24 spokes lace the rim to the hub. ENVE has built a new hub for this collection. The Foundation Road hub has a simplified shell but the same internals as the SES, namely an ID360 40t ratchet drive mechanism that's responsive, durable and cuts drag, fully sealed NTN steel bearings for longevity and a Perfect Preload™ system to eliminate play, preventing the need for any preload adjustment.
