Description

This mug was hand thrown & trimmed on my pottery wheel using a brown stoneware clay. While the clay was still soft I pressed a delicate wild fern from my garden into the clay. I then painted the exterior of the mug with white slip (liquid clay). Once the slip was dry, I peeled off the leaves leaving the natural brown clay underneath. It was then bisque fired & glazed with a clear coat on the outside & a deep ocean blue glaze on the inside & fired again in my electric kiln. Because of the botanical removal some slightly rough texture may be felt where the leaves were impressed. Approximate size: 3.5 across the top & 3.75 high, holds about 14 ounces of liquid.
