The Pillow Case - Hand embroidered in San Nicols, Tenango de Doria, by an Otomi family. - Designs are drawn onto the cotton with pencil, then embroidered with a satin stitch. - Multiple bright colours depending on light. Photographed with different light sources to showcase this. - Cotton back with a zip close. - 56cm x 47cm (22 x 19) Otomi / Tenango Embroidery - Otomi embroidery is a traditional technique which come from the Otomi people. The Otomi people, also known as uhu or Hhu depending on their dialect, are an indigenous people who inhabit the central Mexican Plateau. - The textiles are said to be inspired by cliff paintings & cave paintings. - A severe drought in the 1960s inspired Tenango embroidery - an evolution of Otomi & a way to bring much needed income into the homes of locals. - Due to being hand made, there might be some imperfections & sizing differences. I source all of my textiles ethically, mostly through direct contacts met through my travel job. I will happily answer any questions you have. The price is for the cushion cover ONLY.
