Bright & beautiful Sadek Imari Style unusual spoon dish & creamer (includes both pieces). Imari is known for the bright cobalt blues, red & gold accents. This piece will add a great pop of color to any table. Both pieces are in excellent vintage condition with only minor loss of gold on the handles consistent with normal use & age. A must have for Imari or Sadek collectors! Will make a unique gift for a special person! ! Typically Imari ware (in the English use of the term) is decorated in underglaze blue, with red, gold, black for outlines, & sometimes other colours, added in overglaze. in the most characteristic floral designs most of the surface is coloured, with a tendency to overdecoration that leads to fussiness. Charles Sadek Import Co. Inc. (1936 until ...) was founded in 1936 by the father & son team of Charles & Norman Sadek & started off by importing large numbers of figurines & such from manufacturers in Japan. The company later changed the brand name to Andrea by Sadek. The date of the change in unknown but appears to be sometime around the 70's or 80's. The company today is led by the president Jim Sadek (Norman's son) & the daughters Andrea & Lauren Sadek, both vice presidents.
