On offer is this lovely antique serving spoon. The remaining silver plate shines up well still - numerous notable blackened specks of corrosion / verdigris to the grooves of the bowl interior (please refer to images) which have worn through to the base nickel silver (brassy tone); light scuffs & scratches commensurate with age as well as notable fading & rubbing to the handle decoration with glaze chips; light crazing all over but as shown all adding to the aged charm & character of the piece. It's of traditional form, the bowl shows a grooved finish & the ceramic handle top has been beautifully decorated with floral scrolls & colorful floral sprays which display ever so well still. Marked on the reverse for Charles James Allen (Allen & Darwin) of London & Sheffield, circa late 19th century. It measures an impressive 31cm (12 & 1/4 inches) in total outer length & despite the condition issues raised is ready to be collected & enjoyed once again!
