On offer is this lovely antique sugar scuttle with scoop. The remaining silver plate shines up well still - notable large areas of ware however particularly to the inside of the scuttle as well as extensive ware all over the scoop exposing the base Britannia metal (dark grey); notable light scuffs & scratches commensurate with age & notable darkened areas of verdigris / oxidation but as shown all adding to the aged charm & character of the piece. It's in the novelty form of a scuttle, plain in design yet elegant in appearance. The handles / resting pieces show subtle decals which display well still. Also present is a period sugar scoop which rests in the back piece - Please note this is not original & presents a 'wobble' when in situe . Unmarked for a maker, Sheffield / English produced, circa late 19th century. It measures a charming 16cm (6 & 1/4 inches) in total outer length including the back piece, by 7.7cm (3 inches) by 13cm (around 5 inches) in total height to the top of the carry handle. The scoop itself measures 8.2cm (3 & 1/4 inches) in length. A lovely table addition which despite the condition issues raised is ready to be collected & enjoyed once again!
