You say 'tomato' & we say this is an exceptional mid-century tomato shaped tea set! Referred to often as 'tomato ware,' the emergence of this tomato-style ceramic set comes from Japan & reached its high point in the 1950s. This cherry & rather kitchy set includes a teapot with matching lid, a large creamer & a sugar bowl with lid. The set is bright red/orange, trimmed with bright green, that depicts the tomato's stem & leaves. The green leaves are etched to provide slight dimension & texture. Very sweet! The teapot measures 4.75-inches tall from its base to the top of the handle. It measures 9.5-inches from the tip of the spout to the outer edge of the handle. It measures approx. 5-inches across its base. The creamer is more like a small pitcher - a terrific, useable size! It measures 5.25-inches tall to the top of the handle. End of spout to end of handle is 5-inches. It measures 3.75-inches across the base. The lidded sugar bowl stands 2.75-inches tall X 3.25-inches across the base. The set is in good, vintage condition with signs of some wear & use. There is a chip in the spout of the teapot (see closeup photo), wear along the base of the pieces from use & very small chip on the base of the pitcher. Colours remain bright & true - in fact, this set will automatically cheer up any room! Add this unique & very fun tea set to your mid-century or retro kitchen. Gorgeous trailer piece, too!
