almost 132 cm x 173 cm 51.97 x 68.11 4.33' x 5.68' yellow brown cream some imperfections in the pieces should be tolerated due to age of the pieces & being handmade. 1950s from Anatolia - Turkey wool on wool hand woven Vintage Tulu Rug Dry clean only. TULU RUG: Tulu rugs are from Konya in Middle Anatolia. They were not produced commercially but solely for domestic use. What was astonishing about the Tulu rugs was first of all their texture, then their austere simplicity, & finally their affinity with modern aesthetic values. They do not always spread them on the floor.They keep them in the storerooms known as kusurgu, & take one or two out as required, or to use as sleeping mats when they go to the alpine pastures for the summer. in their houses they sometimes spread them on the floor, & sometimes hang them on the wall, for insulation. They lack traditional carpet patterns & have almost no dyed colours. They rely on the natural tones of the wool, with the occasional addition of usually blue or red. The pile is long. The originality & beauty of the Tulus lies in their long pile. The long, flattened pile gives them a primitive & coarse, yet modern appearance. Please convo for detailed orders.
