Description
This is such a fun lamp redesign from our very own workshop. Its starting point is reproduction antique drop light design from our workshop with a true vintage hazard light cage. The handle is a single piece of carved maple that we cut, cured, carved, & antique finished from scratch. The fixture is new, but we also took it through an artful distressing process to give it an aged appearance. Next we built an industrial laboratory style table-top lamp holder to convert the hazard light into a Steampunk table lamp design. We kept the vintage appearance of the steel cage intact (just cleaned it), but we refinished everything else. We found a reproduction cloth-wrapped twisted-pair cord (has safe modern insulation underneath) & a reproduction vintage style plug for wiring. We even found a cool, old dystopic-looking blue light bulb that perfectly suits this lamp & we will be providing a new nostalgic style light bulb as well, so you'll have lighting options. The socket fits a common household light bulb (E26). The stand is made up of vintage laboratory parts along with other materials. You'll see a cast iron lab stand ring fitted to a boss clamp at the top. We added a weighted metal cap to the end of the lab ring to help balance the weight of the cage light. The metal is finished in our our custom textured metallic coating that mimics aged metal. The base is a beautiful weighted footing of routed, finished American walnut wood. We added a foam pad to the underside to help minimize table-top scuffing. The lamp stands approximately 20 inches (51 cm) tall by 13.5 inches (34 cm) wide by 5 inches (13 cm) deep. This is a true, one-of-a-kind lighting original. We only have one of these custom industrial style lamps available. Wonderful Industrial & NeoVictorian lighting decor. Enjoy!
