Description
Locality - Ansirabe, Madagascar Size – 70 x 41 x 36mm Weight – 104g This chunky natural candle quartz specimen displays good, glassy lustre with shiny cascading side crystalline growth & snowy white colour throughout. There is a chip at its tip, though this is highly typical of specimens from the region & does not detract from its overall aesthetics. These candle quartz crystals have unique cascading formations that resemble molten wax, hence its name, & are found in Ansirabe, Madagascar, where many desirable quartz specimens are found. About Quartz Quartz is the most common mineral found on the surface of the Earth, occurring in virtually every locality. Pure crystals are colourless, transparent & hard, though many are coloured by natural processes such as irradiation or by the presence of certain elements within them. These coloured varieties include the popular gemstones amethyst, purple quartz, & citrine, yellow quartz. Some quartz crystals have unique inclusions of minerals that have grown within them, such as golden rutile, tourmaline or chlorite, & others may show silvery reflective internal veils & bright rainbows. Whilst the majority of quartz is created from molten magma that has cooled & crystallized, much quartz also chemically precipitates from hot hydrothermal veins. Well-formed crystals deep within the Earth can reach colossal sizes, with some measuring several meters in length & weighing hundreds of kilograms. Natural Ansirabe Candle Quartz Point - 70mm, 104G
