A stylish tray will make a practical & attractive addition to your home. These are heat resistant & easy to wipe clean due to the melamine surface. They are durable due to the eucalyptus board in the middle. The dark green baize underneath protects your surface from scratches. The repurposed pine handles give it a retro style. Size Approx: Length 38.2 x Width 29.2 x 0.48 centimetres OR Length 15 x Width 11. 1/2 inches approx. not including the handles. The Process: I chose wood veneers dyed in Italy. These were laser cut into cubes. Each cube was sanded by hand before being laid in the geometric pattern. Once dry the whole was gently sanded by hand again before a coating of sealer was applied to bring out the soft colours of the veneers. The original hand laid image was scanned & printed on eucalyptus board. A matt melamine coating was applied at great heat to the image to make a quality heat resistant product. It has dark green baize backing to protect your surfaces.(see pics). The pine was routed in the middle, sanded & lacquered before being put onto the eucalyptus board.
