Methods of adding eye appeal are endless, beginning with the glaze. On mugs I always use lead free, dinnerware safe glazes. The end results are not always predictable because where the mug is placed in the kiln can effect its outcome. For example, the same glaze could look different if the mug were in a hotter area. & there are thousands of colors & effects made possible by layering two or more glazes.
