Description
This tall pumpkin has a lid, perfect for hiding treats, keys, money, jewelry, cookies, dog treats, or use as a decoration. The inside is glazed with lead & zinc free clear glaze, so it is food safe. I keep treats for my Grand dog in one of my box pumpkins. This gorgeous Turquoise decorative ceramic pumpkin is a piece of art. It is clearly for year around use. The Turquoise gloss glaze highlights the pattern that forms the pumpkin. The stem is 22 k white gold (silver). I appreciate pieces of pottery like this as I use it all year around. This pumpkin adds color to any room. As you can tell, I love colorful pumpkins & moving them around to freshen up decor at little cost. The pumpkin is 5.5 inches diameter at its broadest point & is 8 inches tall & weighs 1 pound & 9 ounces. This is standalone sculpture accent piece intended for inside use. The Turquoise pumpkin is ceramic pottery, hand painted pumpkin, pottery pumpkin, cottage core, art pumpkin, colorful pumpkin, studio art, Studio pumpkin, ceramic pumpkin, studio art, home decoration, pumpkin art, pottery pumpkin, new home gift, best friend gift, sister gift, anniversary gift, mom gift, & artist signed. A potter is someone who likes to play in the mud, or shall I say clay, to transform a lump into something useful, decorative, or both. I use several techniques to build my pieces: wheel throwing, hand building, carving, & sculpting. All my pottery is handmade; therefore, you may discover slight imperfections. Think of them as a craftsman's hallmark, not flaws. They are like fingerprints, making each piece unique. Pieces may vary in size, & glazes often flow in separate ways, but each piece is exactly as it should be. MOLD POURED MUG. Clay is a very flexible material & thus can be thinned & poured into a mold. Once the clay has cured, the mold can be opened leaving the object (in this case a tall mug). Once out of the mold, the pottery is finished to create a smooth finish. Once the item has been finished it is processed the same way as any other piece of pottery. This mug is one of those purchased mold pieces. FIRING. I fire each piece at least twice. The first is called a bisque firing to remove most of the water, leaving it porous to absorb the glaze. After glazing it is fired to a higher temperature, about 2,000 degrees F. I often use an underglaze to enhance texture or design, but some glazes will do that all by themselves. GLAZES. Methods of adding eye appeal are endless, beginning with the glaze. The end results are not always predictable because where the pumpkin is placed in the kiln can effect its outcome. For example, the same glaze could look different if the pumpkin were in a hotter area. & there are thousands of colors & effects made possible by layering two or more glazes.
