17th Century Flemish Tapestry Cushion - Pillow - Caryatids & Mask A pillow made from a rare panel of original Flemish tapestry depicting caryatids surmounted by a mask. I had two matching border panels of this tapestry & this is the second cushion with this motif - this one is a little smaller. Hand woven in wools & silks & dating from the 1600s. Old repairs. The colours are wonderful & vibrant. Old repairs to the tapestry. The tapestry panel has been backed with a woven fusible interlining for stability before being applied to toning cotton velvet- also used for the back (some banding). 19th century narrow metallic gold flat trim to the horizontal sides & Zoffany bobble trim to the vertical. A new feather cushion pad has been used for the interior. The pillow measures 20ins (51cm) by 15 ins (38cm). Measured seam to seam.
