Serge Chermayeff was born in Grozny, Russia & moved to the UK when he was young, obtaining British citizenship in 1928. He worked on design projects around the country including the De La Warr Pavilion in Bexhill-on-Sea. in 1940, he emigrated to the USA & continued to teach design at various universities.
