Description
Jewellery with history - I've hand crafted this beautiful bangle from an antique silver fork dating from the reign of King William IV (1835). William IV's rein lasted just 7 years & as he had no legitimate children of his own, his niece Victoria was next in line for the throne. She became Queen in 1837. Because William the IV was only on the throne for 7 years, this hallmark baring his head is rarer than that of his brother George IV & far more so than those with Queen Victoria. This silver fork's original hallmark is on the outside & tells us the spoon was first made in 1835 & was hallmarked in London. ~ it's 185 years old! It weighs 59grams. Size - The bangle will fit a wrist size 17cm -18.5cm or 6.75" - 7.25" with slight room for adjustment. If you're not sure of your size please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. The Bangle measures 39mm at highest point & 7mm at lowest point, it will be boxed as seen in the photograph above. Each bangle will be accompanied by a change of use certificate from The Assay Office. The postage is £7.70 to have it insured with Special Delivery, next day guaranteed. Making Jewellery from silver cutlery originated in 17th century England where silver spoons were originally used as wedding rings. Servants could not afford to have wedding rings made of precious metals so they would steal the silverware from the manor houses & have them turned into wedding rings. For a time you could tell who the servants were working for by the crest on their rings.
