Jewellery with history - I've hand crafted this beautiful solid silver spoon ring from an antique tea spoon. Spoon rings originated in 17th century England & were originally used as wedding rings. Servants could not afford to have wedding rings made of precious metals so they would steal the silverware from the manor houses & have them turned into wedding rings. For a time you could tell who the servants were working for by the crest on their rings. The spoon's original hallmark is on the outside of the ring & tells us the spoon was first made in 1893 in Sheffield ~ it's 127 years old! Size L If you're not sure of your size & you already have a ring that you wear on the finger you would like a spoon ring for, please measure the inside diameter of that ring & I can calculate the size you will need from that measurement. The ring measures 14mm at highest point & 4mm at lowest point. This ring comes boxed. Each ring will be accompanied by a change of use certificate from The Assay Office.
