A pair of vintage 1970s Austrian Enamel hand painted folk art style Candle holders. This is a very sweet pair of vintage hand painted Austrian enamel "pricket" candle holders in a traditional folk art style. Both are marked "Handmade in Austria" on the base & one has part of its maker's sticker visible too. Their bases & candle spikes are brass. They are both in good condition for their age, with the odd chip or mark, especially around the edges, so please check the photos. The larger of the two holders (59g) stands 5 cm tall & has a decorative base pan with a diameter of 7.7 cm. It is painted with blues, pinks & gold. Elements of its design are very classic - a white background, blue triangles around the edge, detailed flowers/ leaves & hatched shading in a central cross shape with gold spiral borders. The decorative pictures (four in total) themselves are less common in their content. Two feature a pair of birds (doves) in flight facing each other beneath a bow & heart shape. The other two feature a single bird in a plant blooming with flowers & love hearts! The smaller of the two holders (37g) is just 3.5 cm high with a base pan diameter of 6.3 cm. This one has a turquoise triangle outer border & a similar hatched shaded cross shape, this time in red with gold spiral borders. The four pictures (again two pairs) feature children holding either a large bunch of flowers or a love heart with a mixture blues, greens, red, yellow & gold. These candle holders would look beautiful in so many settings, on a dining table, in the lounge or nestled on a bedside table. A very sweet gift to either yourself or a loved one.
