This Pithos is a museum copy on a scale. The original is in Archaeological Museum of Heraklion. Handmade, hand-painted, with a small deviation from the original. It is handmade & hand-painted in high quality materials. The Double Axe that decorates the Pithos was a religious symbol at the Minoan Period. From Minoan Religious Symbol Double Axe was the most important & well known, it was the embodiment of the deity itself. It is usually depicted above the Goddess's head or held with both hands. Apart from the Double Axe, the Pithos is decorated with plants & Rossets. MADE in GREECE - HANDMADE - HANDPAINTED The minoan pithos has smooth surface.
