A late 19th Century Chinese Yoke Back Elm Armchair c1880. Beautiful deep rich colour & patina, featuring a yoke shaped top rail with neck rest above a vertical solid splat & solid rattan covered seat flanked by shaped arms. in ancient China the high back design symbolised wealth & grandeur to both the owner & any person invited to sit in them. Measurements: 122cm height x 57cm wide x 44cm deep (seat height 53.5cm). Overall in excellent solid stable condition, missing a small piece of moulding to the front right under seat.
