Tea Light Blocks The usage of wooden blocks to create prints on textiles is an ancient art that originated in Japan & China which further spread to several parts of the continent of Asia, including the exotic & culturally rich land of India, before reaching the west. Motifs are carefully engraved onto flat & smooth blocks of wood by skillful hands, & these blocks, once ready for Printing, are dipped in colorful hues of pigments & then pressed upon cloth to create an imprint. While these patterns are alluring to look at, largely because of their intricacy & consistency, the wooden blocks in themselves are a chef d'oeuvre. The cloth just carries the print, but these blocks carry the spirit of the adroit chiseller & one can still catch whiffs of paint from them, evoking a pleasant yearning for the mystical past.
