I represent a Peruvian plastic artist & friend named Alexandra Grau who makes Quipus. Each quipu is made from organic fibers of alpaca, vicua, sheep wool, & cotton, hand-treated & dyed rich colors using local Andean seeds & other plants in the ancient technique. Each piece is custom-sized & color-conceptualized for the client's space, whether the art is for homes or businesses. The Quipu is based on ancient Peruvian counting knots last used by the Incas in 1532, but dating back to 2500 BC. This counting system was removed when The Conquistadors arrived to America being replaced by the European Accounting system known today. Orders: 50% deposit to prepare the piece. This process may take up to 5-6weeks. in the mean time, I can provide follow-up pictures of the manufacturing process. Remaining 50% is deposited before ground delivery to client's house. I will keep you inform of any unforeseen change that may arise in the shipping/delivery itinerary. For installation, I recommend to find the beams on the wall & use eyebolts or storage hooks (vinyl coated) which help eliminates scratches on products being hung. These eyebolts or storage hooks are used for hanging ladders, skis, shelving, rakes, bicycles, power tools, extension cords, etc, etc. Pre-drill 3/16 hole into rafter or beam. Screw hook into hole.
