Description
According to the visible Homer Laughlin bottom stamp . . . 87N . . . this sweet lidded handle small bowl ( or box ) was manufactured in August of 1917 at their Newell plant in West Virginia. The 5 1/4 diameter box measures 3 1/2 high ( with lid ), while the box itself has a 1 1/2 depth. There is a pink rosebud design on both lid & box along with a sponged effect gold trim & light embossing on the bowl. I do see a minute chip on the inside rim ( please see photo ) ; some faint, uneven loss of the gold sponge, & normal - but not massive - crazing which would be expected considering the age & materials used. Feminine & Lovely for a dresser, vanity, bedroom or bathroom to hold ( or hide ) a few special favorites !
