An antique French handmade filet lace bedspread with hand knotted fringing along scallop shaped edges . It probably dates to the 1930s or 1940s. This style of lace bed cover was frequently put over brightly colored bed linen to show the beautiful pattern of the delicate lace. It is shaped so that the central panel sits over the bed & the fringed side sections hang over the sides. This panel has been entirely hand made & must have taken many hours to complete. It has a lovely rustic, country cottage feel & is light creamy color. Simple yet stunning it would be a great addition to a country / cottage / farmhouse home decor scheme. It could be used to decorate a window or as wall hanging. Alternatively it would make a wonderful decorative layer for a table. It measures 71 inches wide including the side panels but excluding the side fringes (180 cm). The central panel is 52 inches wide (132 cm) The tassels are 5 inches long (12.5 cm) It is 83 inches long (210 cm). Weight: 450g It is in good vintage condition considering its age & its delicate nature.
