Stain Resistant Size: Round 4 1/4 diameter x 1 /2 thick Weight: 8 oz My Heart is suitable for use as a coaster, trivet & / or wall hanging when not in use. This mosaic is felted on the reverse side to protect your furniture & has a sturdy ribbon loop for hanging. House of Whispering Firs is proud to offer this original mosaic titled My Heart by Kathy Thompson, Newberg, Oregon. artist. Kathy's mosaics are not only beautifully designed & crafted; but, unusual in the fact that she actually makes all the tiles from scratch. After drawing her design & making a pattern, she hand cuts rolled out clay conforming to the pattern.. Each piece is laid out & numbered to aid in the final assembly. After the clay pieces dry, they go through a kiln bisque firing. They are then individually painted with glaze & fired again to vitrify (make glass like). Now, the tiles are ready to incorporated into mosaic art. Each tile is hand placed & adhered to the base. When the adhesive is dried, the project is sealed with stain resistant grout. The edges of these mosaics are all finished, glazed tiles, with no exposed edges. All of our mosaics & tiles are suitable for outdoor use with care. (We do not recommend using any of our mosaics as stepping stones.) They should not be left outdoors, exposed to the elements, in areas of the country that experience harsh winter conditions with ice, snow & /or repeated freezing & thawing conditions.
