This long decorative bench cushion is covered with auspicious symbols & would make a fantastically unique wedding gift for couples starting out in married life, a new home, renewing their vows, celebrating anniversaries or simply as a statement piece for your own home! Measures 92cm x 31cm / 36" x 12" approx. Unique edition of 1. Comes with it's own hand foiled tag detailing the edition number Hand-finished, the inside is fully over-locked & lined in cotton for strength & protection Concealed zip at base for easy removal Filled with British made luxury feather pad (ethically sourced) HISTORY: This amazing vintage textile is upcycled from a vintage Japanese wedding Kimono (Uchikake) dating from the Mid-Showa period (over 40 years old) & is in excellent condition. Made with a woven base of buttery cream silk with woven geometric pattern, over-painted with gold clouds, also embroidered in silk thread flying cranes (Tsuru). Some hand painting on tail feathers & also green pine needles. The reverse is made from a luxury cotton velvet in cream which compliments the textile perfectly & is soft & lovely to touch. Tsuru (Cranes) are an auspicious symbol of longevity & good fortune.
