Description
These stoneware clay candle stands were wheel thrown then carved & faceted by me, then fired in a wood-fired kiln with myself & friends constantly feeding the fire for nearly 12 hours. Wood firing is a labor of love & is an ancient way of curing ceramics at over 2300 degree fahrenheit. The left pillar is about 4 inches tall & wide & can accommodate a 3 pillar. This pillar was not glazed other than the wood ash falling on the piece during the firing then fusing into a glass to parts of the surface. The middle pillar is about 4 inches tall & wide & can accommodate a 3 pillar. This pillar was glazed withe tenmoku glaze (black glossy color). The rightmost pillar is about 3-1/2 inches tall & 4-1/2 inches wide & can hold a 4 pillar. This pillar was not glazed other than the wood ash falling on the piece during the firing then fusing into a glass to parts of the surface.
