Description
This plant pot is handthrown in a classic curved oval shape, starting from a narrow base, widening at the middle & tapering in again towards a curved aperture at the top. The ceramic walls are not thick considering the size, but the pot overall is heavy & perfect to house a large houseplant. It has a lovely built up glaze, & it is fired several times to achieve the depth of colour & varied texture of the surface. The base glaze is an almost black auburn, this is then fired, & subsequently a purple glaze is added, achieving an auburn tinged purple base colour to the overall planter. This is fired again in the kiln, & the final glaze of a clear base with gold leaf throughout. This is painted onto the surface, creating a lovely gilded brush stroke effect throughout the surface. The final result is a gorgeous, deep glaze which is beautifully reflective in gold when hit by the light. The planter is treated internally with a water resitant lining making it perfect for indoor use.
