Stunning silk kaftan in an abstract design of lilac, purple & gold. It has an interesting provenance, having been made for the late opera singer Jessye Norman, who presumably would have worn it on stage. The fabric is a piece of art in itself, it's cut from a single piece of lightweight silk with a scooped out neck & sleeves added on. It's lined with plain purple silk, & can be worn plain side out. Laid flat it measures 43" across. Length 58" from shoulder to hem. There are some very small marks, which are unnoticeable due to the design of the fabric. in excellent vintage condition.
